Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Restaurant Review

When we think of a Beach Holiday in India, the only name that comes to our mind is Goa. And Goa means beaches, fun, adventures and of course lip-smacking food. The one thing that attracts tourists the most to Goa is the Goan Food. The food here has four elements sweetness, spiciness, sourness and salty.Goan cuisine is incredibly rich and delicious. So don’t you want to try these mouth-watering dishes? If yes, then don’t plan a trip to Goa but plan for a lunch or dinner at Vivanta by Taj, Guwahati. For the very first time in Guwahati, Taj is hosting a “Goan Food Fest “

Goan Food Fest

It has started from 10th of November and will be till 19th November. Goan Food is difficult to replicate but this food festival is specially curated by Chef Ignatius Peter Mario Fernandes from Taj Fort Aguada Beach Resort, Goa so there is no scope for any doubt in taste. To give the feel of Goa, Vivanta by Taj has also created a Holiday mood with lovely Decors and of course Music. So as soon as you enter the restaurant you almost land up in Goa. The Taj team has created a very lovely ambiance.

Goan Food Fest

The menu has been designed very elaborately with wide and equal options for both veg and non-veg food lovers. Each of the dishes reflect the locally available ingredients which give its unique flavor to the dish to be savored. Rice, coconut, fish are the basic ingredient of Goan Cuisine and widely used ingredients are kokum, tamarind, red Goan chilies, cashew nuts and garam masalas. And you will find all the above flavors in this Goan Food Fest. For your convenience, I have also given the menus to drool over these dishes. The Executive Chef of Taj, Chef Dipankar told that they have prepared 3 menus for the nine-day long food festival and will be shuffling the menus every day.

Some interesting picks from the menu are:
SOL KADHI
This is a welcome drink. The combined flavors of buttermilk, kokum and coriander are just wow.I had 2 small glasses of it as one was not enough for me.This is a must try, don’t miss it.

ROS OMELETTE
It’s an omelette served with a chicken gravy and Goan bread. This is a very popular Goan snack and a must try.The flavors of spices are very prominent in this snack.

More mouth-watering snacks are there on the menu,so don’t miss the snack and live counters specially. All snacks on the menu are must-haves.

The menu also has more mouth-watering Veg and Non- Veg dishes. But the vegetarian dishes made me more happier than the non- vegetarian dishes. My recommendations will be higher for veg dishes. The Pilafs were outstanding….full of strong flavors.Totally loved it.It’s a high recommendation from my end.

                                                                                          Foodsutrabymitali
The dessert counters were deliciously colorful. The colors and tastes both are attractive and you can’t ignore them, a wide range of desserts are prepared for the festival. All the desserts were too good especially the Goan Dessert “Bibinca”.Don’t miss this dessert. Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Restaurant Review

“The Extremely Flavourful and Delicious-Ilish Fish Festival”

Ilish fish is considered as the queen of fish because of it’s strong distinctive delicious and oily marine flavor. It is one of the most popular fish because of its rich taste. The passion for the bony fish is more during the monsoon. And so as monsoons are here, the renowned Bengali Restaurant chain 6 Ballygunge Place, Guwahati is hosting the ILISH festival to go perfectly with the season for the fish lovers. The festival started on 1st of August and will continue for the entire month.

The menu for the month long festival is specially designed by celebrity chef Sushanta Sengupta.9 varieties of ilish fish preparations are designed in the menu of this festival. The restaurant hosted a food bloggers table and got to taste all of them and I must admit that it just blew my mind.Sharing my experience about this wonderful fish festival. The menu is very inviting and its surely gonna make the ilish lovers happy.

BONELESS MANGO ILISH ROLL

The name says it all why it is in the top of the list.Don’t fear for bones and just enjoy it.It comes with a delicious filling of the fish and mango with a crunchy crust. This was the star for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it with the tamarind and mint chutney.Do try it for sure this one.The best part is if you take kids, they can enjoy this one without fearing for bones.

Ilish Fish Festival (Review )-6 Ballygunge Place

GOBINDOBHOG ILISH

This is another star from the menu. The Gobindohog long grain rice is cooked in ilish stock to give a strong flavor of fish. The fish is separately cooked in spices in a gravy and then later both the rice and fish are combined and slow cooked for a while to infuse more flavors. This is a sure try for all fish lovers.I first thought it to be fish biryani but its not and the marine flavor of the ilish is so prominent that you all keep on asking for more. This was a kind of complete meal that you someone can opt for.

Ilish Fish Festival

LANKA BATA ILISH

Don’t go by the name Lanka(chili). This is not so spicy but it definitely has a strong combo flavor of chilies and the fish. And I really loved this one too.The fish is cooked in a paste of Jaipur green chilies and spices.Don’t miss these top three fish preparation in the menu. The taste of this one very perfect for me.I would try this one with plain rice.Perfect combo.

.

ILISH FESTIVAL

NARIKEL BHAPA ILISH

This is the only steamed preparation. It’s steamed in a paste of mustard seeds and coconut. The coconut paste brings down the strong flavor of mustard and brings up the flavor of the fish more. This is mild in taste but it is flavourful. This is for the crazy steamed fish lovers.

ilish festival

AAM KASUNDI ILISH

The aroma is strong and appetizing but the flavor is mild and little sweet. This didn’t impress me much. The fish flavor was prominent but the sweet taste didn’t bring a smile on my face. The aroma invited me so much but the taste was average.

Restaurant Review:Genuine Broaster Chicken,Guwahati

Genuine Broaster Chicken

“American Soul with an Indian Heart”

The above line was the first thing that caught my attention when i first heard about this American Restaurant Chain,Genuine Broaster Chicken.

Many international chains have made up place in the restaurant sector of Guwahati in the last couple of years.Genuine Broaster Chicken is the newest in the list. This US based fast food chain is known for “healthy”food concept.

Attended the food bloggers meet to review this restaurant. I personally quite like the ambience. The interiors were very rustic and perfectly going as per the theme,American soul with an Indian heart. The entire setup was very welcoming.

genuine broaster chicken

Genuine Broaster Chicken uses fresh chicken, not frozen, and pressure-fries by using patented pressure fryer technology. It is cooked in Broaster Pressure Fryer, which utilises 50 per cent less oil than open fried chicken and retains more chicken moisture.

MENU : The menu is very interesting.

-The Fried Chicken options like The Legendry Genuine Broaster Chicken, the Hot Masala Chicken consisting of crispy fried boneless chicken were my personal favourites.

-Smoked BBQ Franchos was a different taste to the taste buds.

-The burger menu at GBC consisted of the pink bun Lamb Rogan Josh Burger, Palak Paneer Burger

-Meals can be paired with some interesting beverages like Chul Bul Soda, Bul Bul Soda and GBC favourite Palang Tod.

-The traditional  desserts with twists like Chocolate Samosa with Mango Ice cream, Caramel Lava Cake and Gulkand Muffin were my top favourites.

I found the prices very reasonable and pocket friendly and will definitely attract crowds.Completely different new menus to make our tastebuds and tummy happy. The Broaster Fried technology giving it a health factor will be an edge in the growing fried chicken market.
